Biography
Dr. Tracy Bhamra is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Design and Technology at Loughborough University. She has a BSc in Manufacturing, MSc in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Management and a PhD in Design for Disassembly and Recycling. She is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (RSA).

Dr. Bhamra has been researching in the area of Sustainable Design since 1992 and has been very active in developing this research area in the UK. She undertaken a number of UK Government funded research projects investigating Sustainable Design and its implementation in a number of different industry sectors including packaging, textiles & clothing, electronic & electrical, medical and automotive. Dr. Bhamra also runs the Sustainable Design Network in the UK which has over 160 members from Industry, Academia and Public Bodies and is aiming to develop partnerships to encourage the implementation of Sustainable Design.

At Loughborough University she is responsible for teaching Sustainable Design at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Dr. Bhamra has also organised a number of short courses for companies in the area of sustainable design. Dr. Bhamra is a guest lecturer at a number of other academic institutions on the subject of Sustainable Design and Innovation.

Tracy is a reviewer for five international journals and a member of the Technical Committee for three international conferences. She is the Chair of the Third International Conference on Design & Manufacture for Sustainable Development held at Loughborough University in September 2004. She has over 60 publications associated with her work and has been awarded research funding totalling over £850,000 from various funding bodies and industrial organisations.
