Innovia Films’ fast seal coated high barrier film, PropafilmFFX26 is being used by Manor Bakeries to wrap its newest product development - Mr. Kipling Cake Bites.

Part of Innovia Films’ Fast Flexible Films (FFF) range, Propafilm FFX, a Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) material, is coated on one-side with a unique water based low temperature sealing coating for high speed running and on the other with water based high barrier PVdC for added product protection from moisture, oxygen and aroma taint. This makes it an excellent film for flow wrapped biscuits and bakery goods.

“The Propafilm FFF range is ideally suited for wrapping small units, such as Mr. Kipling Cake Bites, at high speed. The films’ outstanding performance minimises product waste, reduces set-up times and significantly cuts down on the amount of line supervision and adjustments required,” says Alasdair McEwen, Innovia Films’ Market Manager & Biscuits & Bakery.

Mr. Kipling, part of the Premier Foods portfolio of brands, was first launched in the UK over 40 years ago and is the No 1 brand in the ambient cake market.  The new range of Mr Kipling Cake Bites is now on sale, available in three flavours - Caramel, Lemon and Strawberry & Vanilla. Each tub contains 15 individually wrapped sponge cakes - an ideal number for sharing a bite-sized treat.

Mr. Kipling Cake Bites are wrapped on new, high-speed SPS machines supplied by Italiana Pack Systems, part of the PFM Group.  The machines run at 360 pieces/minute.Propafilm FFX26 was selected due to its excellent machine performance and barrier properties giving protection to the new product.
