California bill AB 2505, aimed at phasing out PVC packaging, has passed the State Assembly and is now in the Senate. The bill states that PVC is a toxic, known carcinogen that threatens both individual and environmental health, and if passed will levy heavy fines against brand owners using PVC clamshells.
With AB 2505 the Assembly also acknowledges that alternatives to polyvinyl chloride packaging are “… affordable, and are already competitive in the marketplace.”
