Optimum separation is a key stage in all recycling applications. Eriez has designed and developed an extensive range of separators utilising magnetic principles, and at the RWM exhibition (Stand 1113, Hall 17 at the NEC in Birmingham between 11th and 13th September 2007), Eriez will be launching two new systems for non ferrous and ferrous metal recovery.
For optimum separation of larger ferrous metals, Suspended Magnets, Magnetic Pulleys and/or Plate Magnets (on display) are used. Finer ferrous metal separation is possible using stronger magnetic systems such as Magnetic Drums and even Rare Earth Roll Separators. Non ferrous metals are separated using Eddy Current Separators; of which Eriez have several models. Metal Detectors are commonly used as a final stage of separation to remove small amounts of ferrous or non ferrous contamination.
The type of separator is entirely dependent upon the separation objective and is usually selected after a review of the recycling project by one of the Eriez trained sales engineers. This often involves testing at the Eriez laboratory in the European headquarters near Cardiff. All Eriez equipment is manufactured in the UK.
EDDY CURRENT SEPARATORS
Eriez have three designs of Eddy Current Separators, all designed for different applications. Each model is designed either for coarse metal separation (such as aluminium cans in mixed and pre-sorted refuse); or small metal separation (secondary metal recycling and plastic purification).
SUSPENDED CP MAGNETS
Eriez manufacture and supply more Permanent Suspended Overband CP Magnets than any other company in the world. These are extensively used on mobile crushers and MRF plants. Earlier this year, Eriez invested £140,000 in a new magnet charger to produce stronger CP.
MAGNETIC DRUMS
Whether the objective is the separation of large ferrous metal, small iron or stainless steel, Eriez has an extensive range of Magnetic Drums to suit each application. The range includes the strongest permanent Magnetic Drum in the world.
MAGNETIC PULLEY
The Magnetic Pulley is a workhorse in the magnetic separator range with easy installation on the end of conveyor belts. Eriez have two models: the standard strength Ferrite Pulley or the strong Rare Earth Pulley.
SUSPENDED ELECTRO MAGNETS
When the separation objective is more critical, the only option is to use a Suspended Magnet. Eriez’ SE Magnets provides the solution, often designed to suit a specific application.
METAL DETECTORS
Metal Detectors are ideally used where contamination levels are low and small amounts of non ferrous or ferrous metal need to be removed. Eriez recently launched the MA3600 Metalarm Metal Detector for enhanced detection in arduous environments such as recycling operations.
ENHANCED NON FERROUS & FERROUS METAL SEPARATION
Two new separation systems will be launched at RWM. For more information and a demonstration, please visit the Eriez stand.
