Packaging and consumer goods companies are faced with a variety of challenges when configuring their plants, including reconfiguration of existing plants and when building new lines and plants. These challenges and needs include flexibility, line simplification, throughput and improving product yield.

There are many places on a line where the above challenges can be addressed. One place, however, is in areas where packaging lines merge, for instance, after packers or after depalletizers. There are a few options on the market for merging, including the following two traditional systems, and the new Intralox Perpetual Merge system, described in the whitepaper.
