Interpack 2008: Multivac presents the new compact thermoforming machine R175 CD, for use with the Cryovac Darfresh vacuum skin packaging system. The Multivac R 175 CD offers processors an ideal solution to create appealing skin packages for small to midsize batches. The model belongs to the new generation of Multivac thermoforming machines with a hygiene-optimized design.

The Darfresh system is a specially designed vacuum packaging system, developed in exclusive cooperation between Multivac and Cryovac: The top web is contoured firmly, but gently around the product and is then seamlessly sealed with the bottom web. This ’’second skin’’ serves to secure the product to the packaging base, and prevents product liquids from escaping or sticking together. The product appears three dimensionally and is appealingly emphasized; it can be presented in either a suspended or fixed manner. Product shelf life is extended considerably.

The Multivac R 175 CD makes these advantages for new applications possible. Due to its compact design, the machine only needs a 3 m² staging area, and still offers the same reliability as the larger, long-time favorites Multivac R 272 CD and R 570 CD. It’s ideally suited as a supplement to an existing machine, or for smaller packaging batches for industrial applications. At the same time it offers the opportunity to small businesses to create attractive skin packaging with Darfresh skin in a highly economical way.

The R 175 CD belongs to the new generation of Multivac thermoforming machines. Its hygiene-optimized design simplifies and accelerates the cleaning process - namely the inner machine components, including the chain and chain guide. Further developments regarding the design engineering and functions allow for increased process security and efficiency.
