Covert, Machine-Readable Authentication Codes for Advanced Security
InkSure's SmartInkTM formulations are customized encoded inks and coatings that, when combined with InkSure's readers, provide secure, covert authentication solutions.
SmartInk codes are created by mixing special chemical markers (taggants) into commercial inks, coatings and other media, and applying them, using any standard printing process, onto documents, tickets, product packaging and labels. All SmartInk marker/carrier mixtures are allocated with covert signatures, that - while being completely invisible and protected from reverse-engineering attempts - are easily detected by InkSure's line of readers: our handheld SignaSure™ or PocketSure™ readers, or our fully automated quality assurance device, SortSureQA™.
SmartInk is Highly Secure
InkSure's authentication codes are virtually impossible to reverse engineer. However, Inksure’s use of custom formulations for each of its customers greatly diminishes any benefit that a counterfeiter could achieve, even if reverse engineering were possible. Unlike other machine readable products that build their technology around a small collection of "unique" markers, and remain limited by those markers, InkSure has developed its technology around the industry's most flexible reader. InkSure readers operate on multiple frequencies, and each reader is configurable, so that those frequencies can change depending upon the specific formulation designed for the customer.
SmartInk is Forensic
InkSure's covert machine-readable technology (CMRT) utilizes the analytical technique of spectrophotometry, which measures the unique frequencies that selectively excite certain substances, and the different frequencies which are then emitted by such "excited" substances.
InkSure's spectrophotometric methods can utilize up to 75 data points in its field-forensic SignaSure readers to measure emissions from selected illumination wavelengths. It utilizes proven, accepted techniques for distinguishing marked from unmarked products. Any items that fail to match the covert fingerprint profile at any one of the 75 data points will cause a "reject" indication. The technology's robust code development and quality control systems provide quantifiable data to establish accuracy and error rates. In addition, InkSure's CMRT technology meets the requirements for the admissibility of scientific evidence expounded by the U.S. Supreme Court.
SmartInk is Highly Flexible
SmartInk enables cost efficient, multi-layered protection by adding covert signature codes to overt features. SmartInk codes allow the encoding of various overt elements during standard production or on-demand print methods, making color-shifting inks, holograms and tamper proof seals, machine-readable and offering an all-in-one, easily customized security feature that applies to various markets in a cost effective manner. InkSure can work with a multitude of taggants, both organic and inorganic, and can leverage the latest in chemistry science, such as the use of nano particles. InkSure can develop the specific formulation that best meets the requirements of customer's specific application, including environmental and printing requirements.
If it can be colored, coated, printed, or packaged, InkSure can protect it.
