Los Angeles-based Canon Communications LLC has acquired the Pharmapack trade show from French show organizer Oriex. Pharmapack serves the pharmaceutical packaging industry in Europe. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 2008 show runs February 6-7 at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie in Paris.

Canon plans to launch a European version of its BIOMEDevice conference and exhibition, which will co-locate with Pharmapack in 2009. The event serves the medical device and biopharmaceutical manufacturing industries.

Canon serves the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry with publications and the Drug Development Summit. In January, the company announced the launch of the PharmaMed Marketing & Media conference and exposition, which will be held September 15-16, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, NJ.

Canon, a diversified media company serving the technology-based manufacturing industry, is a portfolio company of Apprise Media. Its shows include Medical Design and Manufacturing, MEDTEC, and the Assembly Technology Expo.
