Through the years, tins have been known for their ability to keep numerous things fresh – from tuna to Altoids. Now, the functionality, versatility and retro vibe of tin packaging are bringing a “fresh” look to many [products] greeting cards and stationery items. Also tin-packaged products have a higher-perceived gift value than a paper card. Innovation is clearly a factor when it comes to tin-packaged products. Teresa Castle, owner and designer of Violette Stickers, knew from personal experience that tins would be the perfect way to create a completely new gift item. “I needed a way to make stickers into a gift,” she says, “and I remembered that when I was young, I had lip gloss in a tin and always loved it. Also, my mother used to collect Hallmark tins.” The concept quickly evolved, and soon Castle was combining stickers with tins to create an original product.
